Inspired by Downton Abbey, the much-celebrated PBS examination of one family’s drama in Georgian England, HollyHedge Estate played host to a fundraiser for the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury this past Sunday, January 11. The fundraiser was organized by the Friends of the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury featured a dramatic reading by a period-inspired character, the Countess Dowager. The Countess also fielded questions in a participatory theater performance and hosted visiting guests to a British-inspired high tea. The performance helped raise funds for the library’s annual operating costs, in order to ensure local residents have access to free library resources in the New Hope, Solebury and Lambertville area.
